Queensland’s newest and most technically advanced powerhouse at Stanwell is 28km west of Rockhampton. A diversified energy business, Stanwell owns coal, gas and water assets to generate electricity, sell electricity directly to business customers and trade gas and coal. With a generating capacity of more than 4,100 megawatts, Stanwell are the largest electricity generator in Queensland with the capacity to supply more than 45 per cent of Queensland’s peak electricity requirements through our coal, gas and hydro power stations.

The proposed Arrow Bowen Pipeline (ABP) is a buried high-pressure steel pipeline to bring coal seam gas from the Bowen Basin to a gas hub 88km from Rockhampton. The Rockhampton Region is ideally located to house services and personnel for the duration of construction. Extensive exploration is underway in the Central Queensland footprint. Future pipeline extensions are highly likely, with Rockhampton placed to support a long term gas services Industry.

The Mount Morgan mine, once known as the largest gold mine in the world, is set to reopen in 2016. The proposed operation at Mount Morgan is a venture by Carbine resources which will also provide and economic pathway for remediation of environmental legacy issues caused by acid mine drainage from historical operations.
