The Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral centre for Central Queensland. The hospital offers a 24 hour Emergency Department, a general Outpatient Department for non-urgent conditions, an acute care ward for inpatient services and Palliative Care, Chemotherapy, Rehabilitation, Renal, Coronary Care and Intensive Care services.

The hospital houses general medical and surgical units for day surgery and general surgery services and offers Maternity and paediatric services including antenatal with Radiology services including: x-rays, CT Scans, Ultrasounds, MRI’s and Interventional Radiology (IR).

Recent improvements to the hospital include construction of a seven storey ward block, with three of the stories housing cancer care services. The Cancer Service will provide the platform to further strengthen its capacity in terms of colorectal surgery, breast surgery, urology (prostate cancer service, chest service and dermatology service, building on a solid platform of medical oncology, clinical haematology and radiation oncology.
