Rockhampton has an annual events program to rival that of any of the big cities within Australia. Some of the major events for the region include:


Rockhampton River Festival

The region’s largest festival, this three-day celebration leverages Rockhampton’s riverbank precinct and our stunning natural and built heritage. With over 100,000 attendees coming from all around Queensland, the festival provides the perfect fusion of music, art, culture and food.

Rocky Show

The Rockhampton Agricultural Show brings city and country together, uniting the community. With rides, show bags, live entertainment, show jumping, wood chopping and more, it’s an event not to be missed.

Rocky River Run

Central Queensland’s largest running event, 7 Rocky River Run raises funds to address youth mental health issues and the prevention of youth suicide. It has 21km, 10km 5km and 2km race options, with over 2,000 participants racing on the day. 

CapriCon

CapriCon is Rockhampton’s own Supanova. A free event for all ages, it’s a steampunk and pop-culture convention providing fun, inclusive and immersive experiences with crowd numbers well in excess of 8,500 attendees from all over Central Queensland.

Capricorn Food and Wine Festival

The Capricorn Food and Wine Festival has something for everyone. The weekend offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for foodies, wine connoisseurs and everything in between.

Winter and Spring Racing Carnivals

Frock up or suit up for a day at the races. Rockhampton’s Spring and Winter Racing Carnivals are a fun day out for everyone and feature regular race days throughout the year.

Pop-up Polo

The world’s largest and most successful polo series travels to Rockhampton, bringing entertainment, glamour, excitement, premium food, Champagne and the thrill of the world’s fastest ball game, presented in the guise of Urban Polo.

Beef Week

As the Beef Capital of Australia, Rockhampton is the host to Australia’s national beef expo which sees visitors from all around the world attending to this once every three years event. Celebrating all things beef, the week-long event includes trade sites, demonstrations, cattle judging, cocktail events and a Beef Ball. The next expo will be held in Rockhampton from 2-8 May 2021.

RockyNats 2020

The team behind Summernats will be coming to Rockhampton in 2020 with the debut of RockyNats. The event will include drag racing, burnouts and drifting, plus a static car show and street cruise.
