A range of transport infrastructure projects are set to commence within the wider Rockhampton region, including the Rockhampton Northern Access Upgrade, the Capricorn Highway Duplication and the Rockhampton Ring Road.
The project involves duplication of the Bruce Highway (Yaamba Road) between Yeppoon Road and Terranova Drive. This $121 million project is jointly funded by the Federal and Queensland Governments and early works commenced in 2017. The major works are anticipated to commence early 2019 and be completed by the end of 2020.

This $75 million project is jointly funded by the Federal and Queensland Governments and involves duplication of the Capricorn Highway between Rockhampton and Gracemere. It is anticipated to commence in 2019 and to be completed by the end of 2020. The project is funded under the Northern Australia Roads Program.
The capital cost of this project is estimated to be approximately $1 billion with $65 million allocated for the planning and corridor preservation. Project Preliminary Evaluation and Business Case development will commence early 2019 and take 18 months to complete. At a Federal level, both major parties now strongly support the project and have committed to the project commencing within the next term of government. That could potentially see the project completed by 2025.
