Tourism and Local Projects

Significant potential for the region's tourism

There is potential for significant Capricorn Coast tourism developments associated with Great Keppel Island, Keppel Cove and Capricorn International Resort and associated flow-on benefits to the Rockhampton Region.

There are also a number of other local projects that will both directly and indirectly benefit the regional economy including the South Rockhampton Flood Levee (est. $60 million) and potential Browne Park stadium upgrade (circa $120 million).

There are also a number of larger commercial developments including two Aldi supermarkets (one completed in October 2019) and planned expansion of the Stockland Shopping Centre (two development approvals for 10,600m2 of new GFA).
