A revitalised CBD
Supporting new commercial and retail activity that generates investment and employment in our Central Business District (CBD) is a high priority for Rockhampton Regional Council. We recognise the health and vibrancy of our city, its attractiveness to investment and tourism, and its regional importance, starts in its centre, not its edges.
We aim to continue revitalising a city centre while retaining our enviable heritage buildings and streetscapes, and our relaxed, high-quality lifestyle. Council’s 20-year vision is underway with a world-class waterfront on the Fitzroy River. Playground areas, river lookouts, shaded walkways and gathering spaces lead naturally to inner-city living, cultural areas, open social spaces and extensive food, retail and business accommodation.
Over 7,000 people already live or work in the CBD. With over $30 million recently invested into the area, Council will continue to work with property and business owners to deliver initiatives that contribute to the CBD being a destination where people want to stop, shop and socialise.
Just some of the initiatives, programs and strategies that Council are currently working on include:
- Rockhampton Art Gallery, Smart Hub and Cultural Precinct
- CBD Redevelopment Framework
- CBD Development Incentives
- CBD Facade Improvement Scheme
- Dining Platform Program
- Ongoing placemaking initiatives including planter boxes, window decals and artistic wrapping of traffic controller boxes, NBN nodes and NBN pillars.
Several affordable commercial leases are available in the CBD for a range of business sizes and requirements. If you are interested in available properties in Rockhampton's CBD please visit realcommercial.com.au
