Choose your fishing adventure
Visiting recreational fishers can easily stay in one of our comfortable Rockhampton CBD hotels. From here, they’ll be picked up by their highly professional fishing charter operator and whisked quickly to a fully-equipped sportfishing boat for a memorable day on the water chasing Barramundi and King Threadfin.
If you have your own boat, take advantage of the many hotels, motels, rental houses and caravan parks that are focused on providing security and convenience to the visiting recreational fisher.
Central Queenslanders seeking a short trip should definitely look to Rockhampton as a destination. Keen anglers in the family can go fishing while those less inclined to wet a line can enjoy a spot of shopping, exploring or inner city dining.
If you enjoy your annual caravan and camping trip, the Rockhampton Region has a variety of caravan parks including those located close to or right on the Fitzroy River, with land based jetties also available.
Mount Morgan No.7 Dam is another great fishing option, as it is continually being stocked with golden perch (yellowbelly) and there are plans to increase the level of Saratoga in the Dam. The Dam has speed restrictions on power boats, and with the town’s facilities nearby, it’s the perfect venue for the avid kayak fisher.
